Dear founder,
this is going to be unusual.

This isn't a newsletter. It isn't a campaign. It isn't, despite what the unsubscribe link at the bottom might suggest, marketing in any form you'd recognize. It's a letter, written by hand and then typed up, because some things are worth saying without the help of an automation platform.

I want to say two things to you.

The first is thank you. If you're reading this, it's because at some point in the last nine years you either hired us, recommended us, told a colleague we did good work, or replied to one of our actual emails with something more than "got it." We've kept that list small on purpose. Almost every brand we've shaped has come from someone reading something like this and forwarding it to a friend. That's not nothing. That's everything.

The second is harder, and it's why I sat down to write.

We've been doing this work for nine years and only recently realized we'd been quiet about why we do it. We wrote good briefs. We delivered good campaigns. We won quietly. We never explained the philosophy underneath any of it.

So we wrote it down. It took six months. It's called Brand. Market. Scale. Repeat. — four words that describe how we believe the work actually compounds, in that order, without skipping. Most agencies sell one of those four. We try to do all four because skipping any one of them is what makes brand work feel decorative instead of foundational.

You'll see the new framework on the website. You'll see it in our proposals. You'll see it in the new identity we're rolling out this quarter. None of it changes how we work with you. All of it changes how we explain the work.

If any of this resonates — or annoys you, or makes you want to disagree — reply to this email. I read every one. The replies are how we figure out what to do next.

And if it's been a while since we last worked together, and you have a project worth talking about, you know where to find me.

P.S.

If you read this and thought, "OK but what's the framework actually look like in practice?" — we wrote a 12-page document explaining it. It lives here. No form, no gate, no sales pitch. Just the playbook.

You're getting this because you opted into Notes from BBC. We send these rarely.
